Duane Leuenberger

Duane Carl Leuenberger, 77, of Decorah, lost his battle with cancer and passed away on Nov. 9, 2021 at his home.

Duane was born in Decorah on April 26, 1944 to Henry and Vivian Leuenberger. He attended the Fort Atkinson Public School. Duane worked as an assembly line worker at Donaldson’s in Cresco and then as a maintenance associate at Wellington in Freeport for 24 years. He enjoyed participating in playing cards, fishing and working in the garden in which he was so proud of. Duane was also a proud member of the Odd Fellows.

He is survived by his wife Connie; brother, Dale (Jenny) Leuenberger of Fort Atkinson; sister, Lou Ann Winter of Calmar; friend Ervin Glock of Calmar; stepchildren: Madonna (Daryl) Dekam, John (Dawn) Mickey, Robert (Cherie)Stamper and Mike Strunz; and sister-in-law Barbara O’Connel. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Vivian Leuenberger; brother, Henry Leuenberger III; nephew Allen; and grandson, Jordan.

Memorial services will be held at Odd Fellows in Decorah at 10 a.m. Nov. 20, 2021, with lunch and cemetery services immediately following. Memorial donations can be sent to: Connie Leuenberger, 2873 Bluffton Road Decorah, IA 52101.
