Durwin (Durv) Arthur Sampson, age 91, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2022 in his home at Mt. Vernon, Ind.
“Durv” was born in Decorah, Iowa on April 13, 1930 to Maurice and Anna (Anderson) Sampson. He joined the Navy March 14, 1951 and was a lithographer at the pentagon. When he left the military, he went to work as a photographer at the Decorah Newspaper and later for newspapers in Dixon, Ill., and Evansville, Ind.
He was united in marriage to Verna Walter on Nov. 6, 1951. After the birth of his daughter Jacquelyn Sampson on Nov. 14, 1953, the family moved from Dixon, Illi., to Evansville, Ind.
He is survived by a granddaughter, Kasey DuPont; and he was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Anna Sampson, a daughter, Jacquelyn DuPont, three brothers, Weston, Gavin, and Lester Sampson, and three sister-in-laws, Carolyn, Dorothy, and Thelma Sampson.
