Edsel R. Rocksvold, 72, passed away Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, surrounded by his family, after his battle with cancer. Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Bessemer, Ala. Burial is Oct. 3, at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.
A native of Iowa, Ed was a teacher, and then served in the U S Army during the Viet Nam War. He returned to Iowa to start his family. Ed relocated to Texas and retired as a teacher after 18 years, then moved in 2010 to Bessemer, to be close to his grandchildren.
Ed is survived by two sons, Matthew Rocksvold (Lynn), Jeffrey Rocksvold (Grace); three grandchildren: Warren, Margaret and Daniel; three brothers: Kersten Rocksvold (Karen), Peter Rocksvold (DiAnn), Craig Rocksvold (Connie); sister-in-law, Cheryl Griggs Bonebrake (Joe); and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Ann Griggs Rocksvold.
