Eric Rodas

Eric Rodas, age 44, of Ridgeway,died Friday, April 2, 2021 at his home in Ridgeway of natural causes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, with Rev. Robert Gross presiding.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church on Thursday, April 8, 2021 and also one hour before the service on Friday morning.

Eric Alvin Rodas was born April 2, 1977 in Prairie Du Chien, Wis. He was baptized at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Monona. Eric attended South Winneshiek School. He enjoyed playing football and weightlifting while there. Over the years, he had a few different jobs, until he reached his dream job as a semi-driver. He drove semi for several years for Omodt and Jorde out of Mabel, Minn. During that time, Eric enjoyed seeing different parts of the country from the cab of his semi.

Eric enjoyed the art of debate  He loved to debate anything and everything.  He would choose the opposing side of a topic just to have the chance to test the others knowledge on the topic. Eric was a big kid at heart. Family was very important to him. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Eric was always up for showing the nephews and nieces how to operate the many remote-control cars he gifted to each of them.  The annual family camping trips were always his favorite. Sitting around the campfire sharing stories and swimming were some of his favorite activities. He really enjoyed watching racing, especially Nascar. Eric had a hard shell on the outside but inside he had a big heart.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He is survived by his mother: Barb (Ron) Moellers, Ossian, IA.  Siblings: Elizabeth (Brian) Riley, Monmouth, IL; Dustin (Katie) Moellers, Ossian, IA; Dereck (Starlett) Moellers, Ossian, IA; Devin (fiancé, Carol Steva) Moellers, Ossian, IA; Craig (Chelsea) Rodas, Farmersburg, IA; Brian (Amber) Rodas, Minneota, MN; Andrew (Beth) Rodas, Bondurant, IA and Chris (Kayla) Schmidt, Farmersburg, IA.  Grandmothers: June Freilinger, Monona, IA and Jeanne Rodas, Elkader, IA along with many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father: Alvin Rodas.  Brother: Shane Rodas.  Grandfathers: Rod Freilinger and Marvin Rodas.
