Frank Hron, 71, of Decorah, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at the Linn Haven Nursing Home in New Hampton, with his family by his side. Friends called from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, at Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Decorah. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Decorah.
Frankie Joseph Hron was born Oct. 13, 1945, to Edward and Irene (Soukup) Hron in Cresco. He graduated from Crestwood High School in 1964. Frank worked at Deco in Decorah for 45 years before retiring in 2012. Frank married Jan Hackman Oct. 11, 1980, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson. Together they were blessed with two children, Karla and Kevin. Frank was very proud of his 45 years of service for Deco. He enjoyed flea markets and road trips. Frank was especially proud of his children and their accomplishments.
Frank is survived by his wife, Jan Hron, Decorah; two children, Karla (Jon) Kottke, Kasson, Minn. and Kevin Hron, Waterloo; brothers and sisters-in-law: Madonna (Jerome) Kriener, Fort Atkinson; Betty (Leon) Benjegerdes, Mason City; Ron (Rosemary) Hackman, Cedar Rapids; Marv (Gail) Tester, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mel (Mary Lou) Hackman, Fort Atkinson; Judy (Duane) Crock, Cedar Rapids; Mary (Erich) Weiss, Decorah; Jim (Chris) Hackman, Cresco; JoAnn (Pat) Costigan, Lawler; John (Sue) Hackman, Fort Atkinson; Dave (Sharon) Hackman, Fort Atkinson; Rick (Donna) Hackman, Fort Atkinson.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Irene; father and mother-in-law, Leo and Rita (Leibold) Hackman; brother, Ronald (Arlene) Hron; sister-in-law, Lorraine Tester.
