She attended Highland #5 Winneshiek County and Thomas Robert High School in Decorah, graduating in 1943. Helen was married to Clair H. Knutson on Sept. 3, 1946.

Helen was a hard worker throughout her lifetime starting with working for her room and board during high school, then for Collins Radio Company in Cedar Rapids – as a real life “Rosie the Riveter”, and finally on the family farm until retirement. She was dedicated to the church serving on countless committees, was an amazing cook who never let a person leave the table hungry and had a quick wit with a huge heart. She carried herself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before her. She will be missed dearly.
