Ida Krivachek

Ida Krivachek, age 87, of Fort Atkinson, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 201 Oak Street in Fort Atkinson, with Rev. Nick Radloff presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, at the Helms Funeral Home Chekal Chapel, 201 Main Street in Fort Atkinson, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the funeral home.

Ida was born on March 15, 1935, to her parents Anton and Anna (Meinert) Langreck in St. Lucas, IA. She was the fourth of nine children. She was baptized in her faith and received her education by attending St. Luke’s grade school and high school. After graduation, she worked as a caregiver for multiple families in the St. Lucas/West Union areas. She worked as a clerk for a dime store in West Union. After raising the kids, she started working at The Fort in Fort Atkinson. She cooked there for almost 15 years.Ida was united in marriage to John Krivachek of Fort Atkinson, on Oct. 21, 1959, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas. Together they raised eight children.

Ida enjoyed spending time with her family including her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved gardening, especially her flowers. She could usually be found outside enjoying her flowers, the fish pond, and feeding the birds. She loved to crochet, quilt, sew, Bingo, and playing cards. Her favorite game was 500. She loved cooking and the family would be the first to say she was the “Best Cook Ever.” She enjoyed the opportunity a couple times a year to go to the casino and try her luck. Ida enjoyed traveling even though her health didn’t allow her to go often. She especially loved the visits from her favorite dogs Spirit, Angel, and Macy.Ida will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She touched many hearts with her caring and thoughtfulness.

Ida is survived by two daughters and six sons: Lisa (Tim) Milligan of North Liberty, Lori (Jason) Moellers of West Union, Jerry (Irene) Krivachek of Fort Atkinson, Ron (Patty) Krivachek of Fort Atkinson, Alan (Katie Croatt) of Fort Atkinson, James Krivachek of Fort Atkinson, David (Kristy) Krivachek of West Union, and Wayne (Holly Kleve) Krivachek of Fort Atkinson; 14 grandchildren: Melissa (Special friend Lachen) Krivachek, Melanie (Brian) Vobr, Max (Marisa) Krivachek, Jesse (Mike) Mason, Beth (Special friend Blake) Moellers, Tony (Megan) Moellers, Krista Moellers, John Moellers, Kasey Krivachek, Kiley Krivachek, James (Fiancée Becky Bolio) Tupy, Kim Tupy, Cole Milligan, and Marley Milligan; eight great-grandchildren: Mia Mason, Addison Mason, Isabella Vobr, Bailey Vobr, Parker Vobr, Cooper Krivachek, Malloy Moellers, and Austin Tupy; one sister: Joann Brinks of Plymouth; five brothers: Herbert (Arlene) Langreck of Hawkeye, Anthony (LouAnn) Langreck of Ossian, Edwin (Helen) Langreck of Fort Atkinson, David (Mary) Langreck of St. Lucas, and Duane (Kathy) Langreck of Hawkeye. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband John Krivachek in December 2000; parents: Anton and Anna (Mienert) Langreck; father-in-law and mother-in-law: John and Elizabeth (Markovitz) Krivachek; sister: Antonia Langreck and brother: Alvin Langreck; sisters-in-law: Lila Langreck, Evelyn Boyer, and Cyrilla Krivachek; and brothers-in-law: Linus Brincks, Edward Krivachek, and Raymond Boyer.
