Ilene M. Dougherty, 81, of Waukon, formerly of Dorchester, died Sunday, March 20, 2022, at her home in Waukon.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Friday. Martin – Grau Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Ilene Marie Dougherty was born Dec. 7, 1940, in Spring Grove, Minn., the daughter of Charles and Margie (Byrnes) Cavanaugh. She attended Lorette High School in Caledonia, Minn. On Sept. 23, 1961, she married Raymond “Jim” Dougherty at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Caledonia, Minn.; they farmed together for 50 years in the Dorchester  area. Eileen also worked at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, Wis., and at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.

She loved spending time with family and friends and was loved by everyone including her coworkers at the nursing home. Eileen enjoyed going to dances with Jim and was very active at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dorchester. She also liked gardening and was a wonderful cook.

Eileen is survived by her husband Jim of Waukon; three sisters: Betty Wiemerslage, Lorna (Ron) Schock, and Theresa Johnston; brother-in-law Donnie Heintz; sister-in-law Vickie Cavanaugh; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Jane O’Brien and Mary Lou Heintz; two brothers: Mark Duffy and Robert Cavanaugh; and three brothers-in-law Tom Johnston, Glen Wiemerslage, and Dave O’Brien.
