Inga M. Halverson

Inga M. Halverson, 88, of Rochester, Minn., died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, of natural causes at Rochester Rehabilitation and Living Center in Rochester.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at First Lutheran Church in Decorah, with Rev. Chad Huebner officiating. Burial is in Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, one hour before the service, at First Lutheran Church.

Inga Marie (Tollefsrud) Halverson was born Oct. 26, 1930, in Caledonia, Minn., the daughter of George and Selma (Herbranson) Tollefsrud. She was one of 10 children. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Canoe Lutheran Church. Inga attended rural school near Highlandville, and Decorah High School.

Inga was united in marriage to Duane H. Halverson June 6, 1948, at Big Canoe Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born: Rhonda, Dale, Paul and Bruce.

Inga was a dining room hostess at Hotel Winneshiek in Decorah, Pinnacle Room in Rochester, Minn., Rochester Golf and Country Club and then the Elks Club in Rochester. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Decorah and the Elks Club in Rochester.

Inga is survived by four children: Rhonda Halverson of Rochester, Minn., Dale (Cathy) Halverson of Waterloo, Paul (Brenda) Halverson of Rochester, Min. and Bruce (Heidi) Halverson of Chapel Hill, N.C.; five grandchildren: Jill (Gary) Gaulden, Jane Cokeley, Jessica Halverson, Sean Halverson and Shane Halverson; three great-grandchildren: Jackie Mack, Tiger Cokeley and Katie Cokeley; three sisters: Margaret Kemple of Rochester, Minn., Delores Armstrong of West Plains, Mo. and Florence Headington of Decorah; sister-in-law Ellen Halverson of Ridgeway; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Selma Tollefsrud; her husband, Duane, Sept. 9, 1962; three brothers: Truman (Beth) Tollefsrud, Gilman (Irene) Tollefsrud and Charles (Lucille) Tollefsrud; three sisters: Gloria (Bernie) Lind, Lonnie (Ray) Hegland and Donna (George) Kruse; five brothers-in-law: Richard Kemple, Bob Armstrong, Milo Headington, Harry Halverson and Sid (Betty) Halverson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
