Jacquelyn “Jackie” Mackey

Jacquelyn “Jackie” Mackey, 74, of rural Cresco, passed away at the Mercy Medical Center in Mason City Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Funeral services were Friday, June 12, at 2 p.m. at the Orleans Lutheran Church, 2979 County Rd W14, Ridgeway. Friends called one hour prior to services at the church. Burial was in the church cemetery following services. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco handled the arrangements.

Jacquelyn was born June 13, 1940, in Elmhurst, Ill. to Edmund and Frances (Patrick) Haubenreiser. She graduated from Hinsdale Central High in Hinsdale, Ill. She married Lee Eugene Mackey Dec. 6, 1958, in Westmont, Ill. She had worked various jobs around the Chicago area before relocating with Lee from Downers Grove, Ill. to Kendallville in 1972. Jackie was employed by Elwood Law Office, Luther College, First Lutheran Church in Cresco as well as Decorah. After retirement she worked part time at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Decorah.  Jackie was a long time member of Orleans Lutheran Church where she was active in church Council, WELCA and the church conference. She was blessed with many friends and family throughout her life. She cherished her almost 40 years with Lee, the love of her life.  Lee and Jackie renewed their wedding vows on their silver wedding anniversary, reconfirming their love for each other and their faith in God. Jackie had many pets throughout her life, which she dearly loved. She also enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques and bird watching from her window. Jackie cherished the home she and Lee shared together in Kendallville and all their wonderful neighbors.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Debbie Haubenreiser of Westmont, Ill. and Betty Haubenreiser of Eugene, Ore.; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and –nephews, along with many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee, in 1998, two brothers, “Bud” and Rodney; and a sister, Lorraine.
