Jane Miculinich

Jane Miculinich, 41, of Decorah, died Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 22, at Decorah Lutheran Church, with Rev. Dave Sorenson and Rev. Brenda Crossfield officiating. Organist was Kathy Murray. Special music was by Sara Christopher and Pam Malanaphy (“Ashokan Farewell,” “Amazing Grace” and “Jealous of the Angels” (recording)). Hymn was “On Eagle’s Wings.” Honorary casket bearers were Tabbi Bries, Sam Pecinovsky, Donna Clark, Annette Davis, Melissa Ball, April Mulholland-McQuade, Jennifer Schutte and Jenny Malanaphy. Casket bearers were Matt Miculinich, Lee Ball, Scott Torkelson, Kory Staff, Russ Bries, Chad Davis, Mike Staff and Mark Staff. Interment was at Phelps Cemetery, Decorah. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Decorah.

Jane Ann (Staff) Miculinich was born Aug. 28, 1975, the daughter of Curtis and Janet (Torkelson) Staff in Prairie du Chien, Wis. She was baptized June 20, 1976, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, and later confirmed there in Oct. of 1991. Jane graduated from MFL MarMac Community Schools in 1994. After graduation, she moved to Colorado for a short time. She moved back and began working at Moores IGA in Monona. Jane met Michael Miculinich while working at Moores and they were later married Aug. 27, 2006, at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church north of Decorah. Jane worked for Pinnacle Financial in Decorah from 2004 until 2014. In 2014, she and Michael purchased the Brownberry bread distribution business. She delivered to all of the local grocers around the area up until she began treatments a year ago. Jane enjoyed camping, going to the river with her friends and canoeing and kayaking, bowling, playing cards and trap shooting. Her greatest love was spending time with her children and family. She was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church.

Jane is survived by her husband, Michael Miculinich, Decorah; four children: Christopher, Bailey, Morgan and Brayden; parents, Curtis and Janet Staff, Monona; brothers, Michael (Jen) Staff, Corpus Christi, Texas and Mark Staff, Cleveland, Ohio; father and mother-in-law, James and Teresa Miculinich, Oelwein; brother-in-law, Matt (friend, Megin Miller) Miculinich, Oelwein; sister-in-law, Mindy (Roger) Meirck, Cedar Falls; cousin, Lee (Melissa) Ball, Monona (Jane was the godmother of their daughter, Kensy); her aunt and godmother, Mary Ball; aunt, Bev Torkelson, Monona; uncle and aunt, Kenny (Linda) Staff, Monona.

Jane was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter (Barbara) Torkelson and Alton (Lila) Staff and uncle, David Torkelson.
