Janet Ann Dotseth, 80, of Waverly, passed away in her home early Sunday morning, Nov. 5, 2017. According to her wishes, Janet’s body has been cremated, and a memorial service will be Saturday, Nov. 11, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly, with Pastor Arthur Bergren officiating. Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The memorial service begins at 11 a.m. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to St Paul’s Lutheran Church and Schools, and online condolences may be left at kaisercorson.com. Janet was born March 31, 1937, in Decorah, the daughter of Hazel Lenora (Winger) and Cliff Edwin Natvig. She was baptized April 25, 1937, and confirmed Oct. 26, 1952, both at First Lutheran Church in Decorah. Janet attended school in Decorah and graduated from Decorah High School in 1955, and Luther College in 1959, with a B.A. in elementary education.

Janet was united in marriage to Michael Dean Dotseth June 12, 1960, at First Lutheran Church in Decorah. She was an elementary school teacher, teaching primarily kindergarten. She taught for schools in Maquoketa, Decorah, Cedar Rapids and Waverly. In Waverly, she taught at both St. Paul’s Lutheran School and in the Waverly-Shell Rock School District from 1984, until her retirement in 1996.

Janet was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School in Waverly. Children were very special to Janet; she especially loved her grandkids, grandnieces and nephews and her students. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening, being a sports spectator, walking, playing bridge, singing in the church choir and her beloved pets.

Janet is survived by her husband, Mike; two sons, Kevin (Lisa) Dotseth of Johnston and Keith (Marie) Dotseth of St. Paul, Minn.; three grandchildren: Hayley, Drew and Spencer; two brothers, Michael (Genny) Natvig and Bruce (Donna) Natvig; one sister, Marlene (Bob) Wellner; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
