Jeffrey Jerome Holstad, 56, of Hawkeye, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Feb. 19, 2019, at St. Marys’s Hospital, Rochester, Minn.
Jeff, beloved son, brother and father was born in Cresco Jan. 25,1963, the son of Stanley and Inez (Bauer) Holstad. Jeff was baptized and confirmed in Madison Lutheran Church and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1981. Jeff married Robin Blaess in May 1989 and together they had four children. They were later divorced.
Jeff worked for Mihm Brothers Trucking for 29 years. In the past several years Harley, his cocker spaniel, traveled the country with him. Jeff enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiling through the Ridgeway countryside in his younger years and watching and attending NASCAR races more recently. Jeff’s family will not watch a race without thinking of him. Jeff loved to joke with his friends and family and will be remembered for his good sense of humor.
Jeff leaves four children: Krystal (special friend Brad) of Boise, Idaho; Jeremy (Wendy) of Helena, Mont.; Kaitlyn and Justin, also of Boise; his mother, Inez Holstad of Decorah; his sisters, Mary Ellen Bateman (Tom) of Waterloo and Sandra Weber of Evergreen, Colo. Jeff was loved by his niece and four nephews as well as his four great-nieces and his great-nephew.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Holstad; his grandparents, Albert and Evelyn Holstad of Ridgeway; Harry and Martha Bauer, of Nodine, Minn.; and brother-in-law, Frank Weber.
Jeff was very fortunate to have caring and compassionate doctors and nurses with him during his last days at the neurological ICU St. Marys’s.
