JOHN “JACK” MALEK, 93, of Decorah died Sunday at the Barthell Eastern Star Nursing Home in Decorah. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 19, at the St. Benedict Catholic Church, 307 West Main St. in Decorah, with Father Phillip Gibbs presiding. Burial is in St. Benedict Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Schluter Balik Funeral Home in Decorah and also after 9:30 at the church Friday. Jack is survived by three sons: Joseph (Kenda) Malek, Ames; James Malek, Savage, Minn.; and Donald Malek, Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Mary (Lee) Larson, Rosemount, Minn.; one daughter-in-law, Ericka Malek, Seattle, Wash.
