Keith H. Knorr, M.D. lived a very full life from March 16, 1929-March 14, 2023.
Keith grew up in Decorah, Iowa as the only child of Charles and Lucile Knorr. He was a gifted athlete – lettering in football, basketball and baseball at Decorah HS. He finished his undergraduate degree in 3 years at the University of Iowa, then graduated from U of Iowa Medical School in 1954. While in medical school, he met the love of his life, Janet L Allbaugh, a nursing student from Eagle Grove. They were married on April 3, 1953. Dr. Knorr served in the Medical Corps of the USAF 1954-57 in El Paso, TX and Eglin AFB, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. They moved to Ocala, Fla., in 1957, helping it grow and prosper. Dr. Knorr specialized in OB-GYN, was instrumental in the creation of the nursing program at the College of Central Florida, was an active member of Kiwanis and the First United Methodist Church.
Keith’s parents, Charles and Lucile, 4 year old great-grandson, Gabriel Wirtz and life-long friends from Decorah, Jack Anundsen, Duane Bruening and Dean Fritchen have now welcomed him into heaven.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Janet L. Knorr, daughters Denise Nichols (Bob), Cheryl Lindgren (Robert), Lisa Knorr and Rhonda Mack (Larry), 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 am with Military Honors. Arrangements are under the care of Helms Funeral Home, Decorah. Funeral services were held on March 18 in Ocala. Please visit Helms Funeral Home for his full obituar
