Kelly L. Peck, 56, of Decorah, and formerly of Waukon and Ossian, died peacefully at his home Saturday morning, April 13, 2019. A Celebration of Life is at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Phelps Park, Shelter No. 1 on Park Street in Decorah, with Pastor Dave Lenth leading the remembrance. Family and friends will continue to share memories at The Hay Market in Decorah following the service. Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, is assisting the family with arrangements. Kelly Lee Peck was born June 22, 1962, in Crofton, Neb., the son of Howard and Laverna Ann (Monroe) Hawley. Kelly was later adopted by Eldo Marion Peck.

Kelly was raised in Ossian by Eldo and Laverna. He attended South Winneshiek Schools where he participated in football, wrestling, track, drama and choir. He graduated with the great Class of 1980.

Kelly worked at Gemini, Inc. for over 18 years. He stopped work in June of 2018 due to his health. He had also worked at Dean’s Plumbing and Heating and Camcar. Kelly worked part time as a carpenter for Wayne Kloke and also at The Hay Market for over 15 years.

Kelly married Corene Kay Bechtel in November of 1983 in Waukon. They lived in Waukon and were blessed with five children: Michael, Ryan, Shawn, Nicole and Heather. Kelly and Corene later divorced. Kelly married Kimberly Marie (Schmader) Wurst Nov. 10, 2011, in Decorah. They made their home in Decorah.

Kelly enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a person who cared for his family and was a loyal friend. Kelly will be missed by many and he will live on in the memory of all who knew him.

Left to honor Kelly’s memory is his wife, Kim, of Decorah; four children: Michael (Andrea) Peck of Collins, Ryan (Trish) Peck of Waukon, Shawn Peck of Waukon and Heather Peck of Waukon; two step-sons, Daulton Wurst of Decorah and Jake Wurst of Cresco; three grandchildren: Eowyn Peck, Saphira Peck and Calvin Peck and a sister, Kitty Collins of Waukon.

Kelly was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nicole, as an infant; and a brother-in-law, Russ Collins.
