Laurice V. Fulsaas, 86, of Decorah, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at her home in Decorah. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah, with Rev. Donald Hertges officiating. Organist was Mary Beth Bouska. Cantor was Cindy Schissel. Hymns were “On Eagle’s Wings,” “In Christ Alone,” One Bread, One Body,” “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.” Casket bearers were Dave Henry, Dave Brenno, Dale Rovang, Ronald Fulsaas, Todd Fulsaas and Jerome Fulsaas. Burial was in Madison Lutheran Church East Cemetery, rural Decorah. Visitation was from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m., one hour before the service, at St. Benedict Catholic Church.
Laurice Vivian (Gossman) Fulsaas was born March 10, 1932, in Cresco, the daughter of Leland and Irma (Patterson) Gossman. She graduated from Canton (Minnesota) High School with the class of 1950.
Laurice was united in marriage to Merle A. Fulsaas Oct. 27, 1952, in the Rectory of St. Agnus Catholic Church, Cresco. This union was blessed with two sons, Gary and John.
Laurice was a homemaker, raised her boys and helped Merle with their family farm. In 1973, she graduated from Area One Technical College in Calmar, with a licensed practical nurse (LPN) degree. She then became the office nurse for Dr. Robert Dolan in Decorah. After his retirement, she became a floor nurse at Wellington Place in Decorah for many years. Laurice was a longtime member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and was active in the Rosary Society for over 50 years. She loved gardening, flowers and yard work, and liked to be outside.
Laurice is survived by two sons, Gary Fulsaas and John Fulsaas of Decorah; one granddaughter, Abby Rose of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; one sister, Norma Oyloe of Owatonna, Minn.; one brother-in-law, Roy (Pat) Fulsaas of Ridgeway; one sister-in-law, Joanne Fulsaas of Decorah; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle, Sept. 28, 2008; one brother, Donald Gossman; and one sister, Lois Henry.
Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah served the family.
