Lee was born on Nov. 23, 1967 at the Smith Memorial Hospital in Decorah, to David and Bonnie (Lee) Holkesvik.  Although, born legally blind, he did not allow this disability to limit his life or country boy’s heart. It was evident early on in life that he had a true love for farming. He attended Decorah schools and was a member of the FFA. Lee work at numerous farms and did odd jobs throughout his life for his family and friends. During the winter months, he would shovel snow with his cousin Shannon. Occasionally, he could be seen in the back of the Catholic Church listening to the word of God while warming up from the cold outside. Lee was simple, straight forward, kind-hearted yet stubborn at times. He would do just about anything for anyone unless you broke his trust.

Lee loved and truly cared for his family and friends; he loved his beer and chew; and, he loved music and having a good time with anyone and everyone.  If he wasn’t out on a farm, Lee could be seen taking a walk, hanging out at the bar, or merely sitting on his porch having a good time talking to people while listening to music, NASCAR races, or KVIK and having some beers. He would always tell you the truth and if you don’t like it…so be it, that was Lee.

He is survived by his mother, Bonnie Holkesvik pf Decorah; two siblings: Lisa (Holkesvik) Blaess (Brad Garrington)  of Clear Lake, and Lynn (Angela) Holkesvik of Smithville, Mo.; seven nieces and nephews: Richie Blaess of Decorah, Matt (Miranda) Blaess of Nashua, Anna Blaess (Zach Polete) of Oelwein, Ryan Blaess of Clear Lake, Jordan Holkesvik of Versailles, Mo., Makayla Holkesvik of Smithville, Mo., Brooklynn Holkesvik of Smithville, Mo.;one godson, Kevin Anderson of Festina; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, David Holkesvik; his two great grandmothers, Ida Lee and Jeanette Holkesvik; and four grandparents – Vernon and Marcie Lee; and Allen and Virginia Holkesvik.
