Lowell Vsetecka, 55, of Decorah, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Decorah, with Rev. Donald Hertges officiating. Organist was Mary Beth Bouska. Cantor was Cindy Schissel. Hymns were “Here I am, Lord,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Taste and See” and “Sing A New Song.” Lector was Vicki Demro. Offertory gift bearers were Linda Luzum, Joe and Jeff Vsetecka. Eucharistic minister was Linda Luzum. Interment is at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Spillville, at a later date. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Decorah.
Lowell Ray Vsetecka was born April 27, 1963, in New Hampton, to Alvin and Patricia (Brincks) Vsetecka. Lowell attended Holy Trinity School in Protivin, and graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1981. He then attended North east Iowa Community College in Calmar, in the farm implement mechanic program. Lowell then worked at Case IH in Sumner and Cresco. He then went to work at DECO Products in Decorah, until due to health reasons he could no longer work. Lowell was a diabetic most of his life and had been on dialysis for many years. He has been a resident of Wellington Place in Decorah the last five years. Lowell enjoyed farming, gardening and family gatherings. Lowell donated his body to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
Lowell is survived by his parents, Alvin and Patricia (Brincks) Vsetecka, Lawler; sister, Linda (Kevin) Luzum, Ft. Atkinson; two brothers, Joe (Lisa) Vsetecka Ft. Atkinson and Jeff (Jenny) Vsetecka, Charles City; nieces and nephews: Cynthia, Jacob and Emily Luzum; Hanna (Mak) Kriener, Heidi, Josh and Lia Vsetecka; Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Lindsey and Luke Vsetecka.
Lowell was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Annastasia (Klima) Vsetecka; maternal grandparents, Ray and Hildegard (Dietzenbach) Brincks.
