Marian was born June 7, 1933, daughter of Eugene and Jeanette Holkesvik. She was baptized, confimed and married at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
She married Earl Knoke Oct 1, 1950, and would have celebrated 69 years of marriage this fall. They had three children: Daryl, Rhonda and Karla.

Marian started her own ceramic business known as “Marian Knoke Ceramics” in 1960, and provided ceramic lessons to many women the area who enjoyed learning how to create beautiful pieces of art, and have fun doing it.
In 1980 she went back to school at NICC and received her secretarial degree.

She worked for Medical Associates for four years followed by Northeast Iowa Community Action Fuel Program. She retired from the ISU Extension Office.
Marian volunteered at Winneshiek Medical Center and the VA clinic. She enjoyed politics and working during elections at the polls.

She enjoyed entertaining, always making sure you had something to eat or drink while you visited. She would rent out her spare bedrooms during Nordic Fest and any activities at Luther College. They had their own little “Air BNB” before they were even popular.

One of her fondest memories she would talk about were the fishing trips “Up North,” with all the grandkids.

She enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and Texas meeting a lot of new and great friends, as well as her close friends who meet for morning coffee and solve the problems of the world.

Marian is survived by her husband, Earl; son, Daryl (Sherri) Knoke, Decorah; daughter, Karla (Jason) Paciorek, Cannon Falls, Minn.; four grandchildren: Jason (Jordan) Knoke, Decorah, Michael Knoke, Tiffin, Jenna (Alex) Sandoe, Litchfield, Minn. and Collin Sandoe, Minneapolis, Minn. and one great-granddaughter, Harriet Sandoe; one brother, Allen Holkesvik, Decorah; one sister, Ruth Ann (Bob) Acosta, Chatsworth, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
