Marie Brincks, 91, of Ossian, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 Wednesday, Oct. 7, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, with Father Alan Dietzenbach officiating. Mass servers are Amber, Christopher and Carson Brincks. Lectors are Jodi Wenthold and Megan and Renee Brincks. Organist is Diane Stee. Music will be performed by St. Francis de Sales Choir and by Denise Uhlenhake and Sandy Meyer. Hymns are “Precious Lord, Take my Hand,” “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman,” “Go In Peace,” “Be Not Afraid” and “How Great Thou Art.” Offertory gift bearers are Jenny Neill and Patty Frana. Eucharistic ministers are Joann Franzen Larry and Devin Brincks. Honorary casket bearers are Marie’s grandchildren: Randy Frana, Lori Winborn, Michael Holthaus, Jason and Adam Franzen, Russ, Brian, Jenna, Melissa and Nathan Brincks. Casket bearers are Jeff Brincks, Logan Brincks, Lucas Brincks, Levi Franzen, Mary Jo Schmitt, Jackie Kies, Cindy Cunningham and Dan Dietzenbach. Interment is at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery in Ossian. Arrangements are being handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah.
Marie Anna (Hageman) Brincks was born March 24, 1924, the daughter of August and Theresa (Schmitt) Hageman on the family farm near Calmar. Marie attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Festina. She was united in marriage to Clarence Brincks Oct. 12, 1943, at St. Aloysius Church in Calmar. To this union, nine children were born: Shirley, Bernice, Larry, Don, Marilyn, Joann, Dennis, Randy and Lyle. Together they farmed the Brincks family farm near Calmar until 1975, when they moved to a farm east of Ossian. They retired in 1983 and moved to Ossian. Marie has been a resident at the Ossian Senior Hospice for the past five years. Marie was a loving mother and very fond of family. She treated everyone she met as a friend. She especially was fond of children and they always brought a twinkle to her eyes. Her smiles, laughter and sense of humor will be missed.
Marie and Clarence enjoyed traveling and dancing. She loved to crochet, garden, quilt and play cards. Marie was a member of St Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian. Her strong faith gave her strength in her final days. She died peacefully surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Marie’s survivors include her nine children: Shirley (Lester) Frana – Hageman, Calmar; Bernice (Vern) Dietzenbach, Fort Atkinson; Larry (Inez) Brincks, Decorah; Don (Nancy) Brincks, Calmar; Marilyn (Dennis) Holthaus, Ossian; Joann (Dean) Franzen, Elkader; Dennis (Janice) Brincks, Postville; Randy (Mary) Brincks, Ossian; and Lyle (Laura) Brincks, Ossian; along with 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; Marie’s siblings: Helen Dietzenbach, Ossian; Eugene Hageman, Decorah; Delbert Hageman Decorah; and Robert (Joann) Hageman, Decorah; sisters-in-law: Dolores Hageman, Cresco; Joyce Hageman, Ossian; and Ann Hageman, Calmar; along with many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Brincks, Aug. 3, 2003; her parents, August Hageman Dec. 5, 1972 and Theresa (Schmitt) Hageman Jan. 26, 1992; two great-granddaughters, Isabella Neill and Taylor Brincks; son-in-law, Vernon Frana; her father–in-law and mother-in-law, Herman (Pauline Weber) Brincks, brothers: August Hageman Jr., Louis Hageman, Leonard Hageman, Francis Hageman and Cornelius Hageman in infancy; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Frances Hageman, Francis Dietzenbach, Patricia Hageman, Ray (Hildegard) Brincks, Rose (Laverne) (Adam) Nagel Meyer, Mary (Herman) Bullerman, Ralph (Olivia) Holthaus,and Theresa (Louis) Bullerman.
