Mary Flesor Fromm

Mary Flesor Fromm, 94, passed away Aug. 23, 2018, surrounded by family. A visitation for family and friends was Monday, Aug. 27, at Thomas Poteet & Son. Mary was buried with her husband, George, a 25-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, S.C.

Mary was born to Greek immigrants in Tuscola, Ill., where she spent her childhood. She attended college at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill. Throughout her adult life, Mary volunteered with many civic organizations including the Navy League of the United States. She spent most of her adult life with her family in the town of Glenview, Ill. where she was named Citizen of the Year in 1980. “Yaya” was an avid Bridge player and loved to entertain, travel and play golf. In 2000, Mary moved with her husband to Orlando, Fla. and then to Augusta, Ga., in 2012.

She is survived by three children: Nicki Lou Rimmer; Richard Martin Fromm and wife Sarah; Georgia Fromm Perrotta and husband Mark; six grandchildren: Sarah Zoch and husband Tim; Ryan Matthew Rimmer and wife Heather; David Thompson Fromm and wife Cari; Zachary Richard Fromm and wife Stephanie; Samantha Perrotta Turner and husband John; and Maddie Perrotta Wilson and husband Andrew; as well as 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and brother: Chris Flesor and wife Clare.

Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, George Richard Fromm; her parents, Nick and Agnes Flesor; and twin brother, George Flesor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Ave., Augusta, GA 30904.
