Norma Jean Anderson Hacker, 89, of Decorah died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022 at the Wellington Place in Decorah.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
Norma Jean Olson, daughter of Henry and Edna (Hested) Olson, was born December 5, 1932 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Bode High School in 1950 and Luther College in Decorah. On January 24, 1954, Norma was united in marriage to Lawrence Henry Anderson in Duncombe. She worked for Stratford Schools and Webster City Community School for 28 years. On May 4, 1996, Norma married Darvin Hacker and the couple resided in Decorah. She was an avid sewer, especially cross stitching and loved to explore the history of her family doing genealogy research.
She is survived by her children, Betsy Imhoff of Decorah, Barbara Anderson-Bacon of Green Bay, Wis., Eric Anderson of Duncombe; seven grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; sister, Doris Underberg of Fort Dodge; sister-in-law, Joyce Anderson of Webster City and many extended family members. In addition to her husbands, Lawrence and Darvin, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Julie Caquelin; son-in-law, Rodney Bacon; brothers-in-law, Wallace Underberg, Leonard Anderson; sisters-in-law, Velma & Ed Person, Helen & Darrell Bacon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Norma’s memory to Hospice of Winneshiek County, 901 Montgomery Street, Decorah, IA 52101.
