Norman “Bud” Ihde

Norman “Bud” Ihde, 77, of Decorah, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian. Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Monday, March 12, at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, 1725 Washington Prairie Rd., rural Decorah, with Rev. Jenny Edinger presiding. Burial was in the church cemetery. Visitation was after 10 a.m. at the church Monday morning.

Norman “Bud” Ronald Ihde was born Jan. 9, 1941, to Richard and Alma (Meyer) Ihde on the family farm near Decorah. He graduated from Decorah High School in 1958. Bud met Kay Keefe at Matters Ballroom and they were married Nov. 11, 1962, at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah. Prior to their meeting, Kay recalls watching him drive down the street and telling her sister all about her future marriage intentions to this handsome young man. Together they farmed and raised their four sons on the family farm southeast of Decorah. Bud was a gentle, quiet man but had a great sense of humor. He was a family man that never missed one of his kids’ sporting events. This love of family continued with the addition of his grandchildren. Bud and Kay never missed a game or musical performance and could be heard cheering each on from the stands.

Bud is survived by his wife, Kay; children: Scott (Michelle) Ihde, Decorah; Ron (Tammy) Ihde, Cedar Falls; Chuck (friend, Jody Roberts) Ihde, Decorah; and Todd (Karin) Ihde, Decorah; grandchildren: Morgan (fiancé Ben Coady), Madison, Laiton and Lydia Ihde; Kelsey (fiancé Johnny Moran) Ihde, Molly (Taylor) Miller, Lindsay Ducker, Emma Angen, Christopher and Adam Rogich, Philip and Isabel Ihde. Sisters: Jeanette Schroeder, Castalia; Orma (Milt) Quam, Decorah; brother, Marvin (Dorothy) Ihde, Decorah; in-laws: Arla Ihde, Decorah; Rosemary (Alton) Lovstuen, Cedar Rapids; JoAnn Thorston, Decorah; Tom Keefe, Racine, Wis.; Roger Hammel, Decorah; and Bill (Gail) Keefe, Decorah; along with many nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Alma (Meyer) Ihde; brothers, Leroy (Jeanette) Ihde and Donald Ihde; father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Hattie Keefe; brothers-in-law: Kenneth Schroeder, Leon Barth and Bob Thorston; sister-in-law, Carol Hammel; nephew, Marvin Ihde Jr.
