Pamela Kotek

Pamela Kotek, age 68, of rural Decorah, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family after complications of a long battle with vascular dementia.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023 at the Helms Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah. Burial will be in the St. Benedict cemetery with Rev. Donald Hertges presiding.  The Helms Funeral home is handling the arrangements.

Pamela Mary Kotek (Stach) was born March 5, 1954, in LaCrosse, Wis., to Francis and Florence Stach.  Pamela was raised in Middle Ridge, Wis., on a farm (Du-Litlte Acres) with her parents and six siblings. She married Jeffrey A. Kotek on Nov. 13, 1976, and they shared 46 years together. They moved to Iowa in March of 1987 with four small children. Shortly after they moved to Iowa, Pamela began her pursuit of becoming a Registered Nurse. She worked as a nurses’ assistant for many years while she began and finished her studies at NICC for her RN Degree in 2000. She continued to work in nursing homes until she retired in 2019.

Pamela enjoyed being in the sun, going on walks on the country roads with her Doberman, and watching wildlife out at her and Jeff’s farm. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan and cheered them on every season. She was also known for her sarcasm and witty comebacks always coming from a place of love.

Pamela was preceded in death by her parents; Francis and Florence Stach and her father-in-law James Kotek Sr.

Her survivors include her husband, Jeffrey Kotek; son Jason Kotek and partners (Lodi, WI); daughter Carissa Kotek and (Fiance Tim McCall) (Decorah, IA); daughter, Justina (Brodie) Wandling (Macomb, IL); daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Hinrichs (Baudetter, MN); her grandchildren, Connor, Vera, Victoria, Jeffrey, Kaelyn,Tristan, and Cole; sister Bonnie (Randy) Lofgren (St. Louis Park, MN); Brother Spence (Renee) Stach (Minnetonka, MN); brother, Mark Stach (Onalaska, WI); brother, Kevin (Lisa) Stach (St. Paul, MN); sister Doreen (Steve) Averbeck (West Salem, WI); brother Shawn Stach (Middle Ridge, WI); and many other family members.
