Peter William Bieber Jr., 81, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family with arrangements. A celebration of life is Wednesday, May 31, at the Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon. The ceremony begins at 5 p.m. with Chris Leppert officiating, followed by meal and music/reception. Peter was born July 29, 1935, in Waukon, son of Peter Sr. and Luella (Leppert) Bieber. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith of our Lord and Savior. He graduated from Waukon High School with the class of 1952.

He was united in marriage to Lillian Kvamme Nov. 7, 1954, at First Lutheran Church, Decorah. This union was blessed with six children: Susan Eileen, Daniel Peter, Thomas William, Judith Lillian, Charles Joseph and Mary Rachel.

Peter William Bieber Jr. died Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, at age 81.

Peter was born on July 29, 1935 in Waukon, Iowa, son of Peter Sr. and Luella (Leppert) Bieber. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith of our Lord and Savior. He graduated from Waukon High School with the class of 1952.

He was united in marriage to Lillian Kvamme on November 7, 1954 at First Lutheran Church, Decorah. This union was blessed with six children: Susan Eileen, Daniel Peter, Thomas William, Judith Lillian, Charles Joseph and Mary Rachel.

Peter lived and farmed east of Waukon his whole life; in fact the Bieber farmstead is a century farm. He enjoyed planting the crops and seeing them grow, watching the new life of springtime. Purebred Angus cattle are a large part of the family business and very dear to his heart. He also liked gardening, social dancing and engaged in conversation with friends and family. Peter was active as a past township trustee, barbershop member and choir member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He was interested in history, politics, religion and being a good steward of the land using common conservation practices.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Sr. and Luella; his wife Lillian on March 29, 2013; his son Daniel on October 10, 2012; his brother Richard Bieber on November 20, 1998; his son-in-law Timothy Brozovich; his brothers-in-law Jerome Christopherson and Carlton Wennes; and sister-in-law Florence Wennes.

Survivors include his children: Susan (Miles) Schulte of Spring Grove, MN, Thomas Bieber of Onalaska, WI, Judith Brozovich of Scottsdale, AZ, Charles (Jill) Bieber of Waukon and Mary (Doug) Huinker of Postville, IA; daughter-in-law Sheryl Bieber of Waukon; 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; two brothers: James (Sue) Bieber and Willard (Marsha) Bieber both of Waukon; sisters-in-law Joan Bieber of Waukon and Margaret (Bill) Thom of Jesup, IA and special friend Mary Ellingson of Decorah, IA plus many nieces and nephews.

Martin Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family with arrangements. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon.
