Phyllis (Larson) Emery

Phyllis (Larson) Emery of Mabel, Minn., passed away on May 15, 2022, at 87 years of age.

She was born May 21, 1934 to Joseph and Palma (Danielson) Larson. She graduated from Mabel High School and attended Luther College. She married the love of her life, Jessie Emery, on Jan. 30, 1954 at Mabel First Lutheran Church.  For many years she was a Girl Scout Leader and cookie chairman. She also worked at the Green Lea Manor, Larson Hardware, and helped at Jackie’s daycare. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and singing in the Mabel First Lutheran Choir.

She is survived by her sister Beverly Holmes and brother Joseph (Deanna) Larson; four children Jackie Emery, Jessica (Charlie) Arnold, Carol (Scott) Raines, and Phillip (DeAnn) Emery; seven grandchildren: Jesse (Jessica) Matthews, Leah Matthews, Beth Hardinger, Shelly and Robert Raines, Kyle and Eric Emery; seven great grandchildren: Grace, Jessie Allen, Lauren, Avery, Hannah, Leila and Teegan; and her sister-in-law, Nell Jane Ewing and day-care “grandkids” who called her Grandma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Dorothy Brandenburg, and numerous brother and sister in-laws: Beverly Berg, Tom Emery, Raymond Emery, Lenora Selinger, Dean Emery, Roger Emery, Arland Emery, Betty Guhl and JoAnn Emery.

The funeral will be held at Mabel First Lutheran Church, Friday, May 20, 2022 at 2 p.m., and visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
