Rhett Bush, 64, of Byron, Minn. died in his home Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, surrounded by his family. All family and friends are invited to share memories of his life Saturday, Oct. 14, at Johnny Mango’s Event Center in Byron, 505 Frontage Road, from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. Rhett was born to George and Sarah Bush March 23, 1953, in Denver, Colo. He moved to Fairmont, Minn. with his mother the summer of 1967. He graduated from East Chain High in 1972.
He married Marilyn Headington Sept. 26, 1975, in Rochester, Minn. While raising their family in Byron he worked at the Byron Elevator (Agriland) for 25 years, followed by 17 years as a union carpenter for A.E. Benike and Weis Builders. He retired from the Carpenters Union in March 2016.
Throughout his life Rhett enjoyed crafting beautiful pieces of furniture for family and friends. He also designed and built many projects for his grandchildren including a backyard play set, mini bike and various other beloved toys. He spent numerous hours with his sons building his ’54 Chevy. He loved spending time adventuring outdoors with his family, caring for his backyard pond and cruising on his motorcycle.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; his sons, Eric (Shianne) and Aaron; four grandchildren: Montana, Erianne, Graison and Keeran Bush, all of Byron, Minn.; his sister, Daisy Bush of Mapleton, Minn.; his mother-in-law, Elaine Headington of Decorah; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; six sisters; his father-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.
