Rita Lennon, 91, of Calmar, died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian. A Memorial service was at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, at Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel, Calmar, with Rev. Robert Gross of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, officiating. Music was “How Great Thou Art” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” Interment was at Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel, Calmar.

Rita Marie (Staska) Lennon was born Feb. 8, 1925, the daughter of James and Emma (Vseteska) Staska in Calmar. Rita graduated from Calmar High School. She was united in marriage to Alden Lennon July 9, 1950, in Dubuque. Rita was a stay at home mother, who enjoyed making kolaches, baking, cooking, saving and giving away recipes and taking care of her family. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar.

Rita is survived by her three children: Steve (Darla) Lennon, Decorah; Stan (Linda) Lennon, Fort Atkinson; and Deb Henry, Calmar; eight grandchildren: Tim Lennon, Decorah; Nicole (Chris) Fisher, Atkinson; Darin (Tracy) Lennon, Fairfax; Travis (Jess) Lennon, Spillville; Jackie (Wes) Hageman, Spillville; Jake (Brandi) Lennon, Calmar; Emma Lennon, Maquoketa; and Allison Lennon, Maquoketa; 10 great-grandchildren: Avery Fisher, Tanner and Piper Lennon, Blain, Josie and Levi Lennon, Daynon and Rylee Lennon, Easton and Laney Hageman.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, James and Emma (Vsetecka) Staska; her husband, Alden Lennon, July 18, 1990; her son, James Lennon, Oct. 13, 2005; one brother, in infancy, Cletus Staska; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herschel and Amanda Lennon.
