Robert Teslow, age 83, of Decorah, passed away Nov. 20, 2022, at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 23, at the First Lutheran Church, 604 W Broadway St. in Decorah with Rev. Melissa Bills presiding. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery with full military rites. There is no visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the First Lutheran Building fund, 604 W Broadway St., Decorah, IA 52101.
Robert Van Teslow was born May 30, 1939, in Decorah, IA to Harold and Alberta (Van Vliet) Teslow. Bob grew up in Decorah and graduated from Decorah high school in 1957. Shortly after Bob graduated, the family moved to Mount Carroll, Ill., and Bob joined the US Navy, serving on the USS Patrick Henry submarine. Bob was later inducted into the US Submarine Veterans Holland Club in 2011. After serving in the Navy, Bob attended business school in Rockford, Ill., and Dealer/Sons School in Detroit, Mich. Afterwards, he joined his dad at his Chevrolet dealership in Mount Carroll. Bob spent the rest of his career in the car business. Bob loved going to car shows and visiting the Indy 500 racetrack.
Bob is survived by his brother, Richard Teslow of Macomb, Ill.; sister: Lynda Morgan, Columbus, Ind.; cousins/special friends: Wayne and Margaret Walters, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Alberta Teslow; brother: William Teslow; brother-in-law: Randy Morgan; and two nephews: Patrick Morgan and Andy Teslow.
