Sawyer Fink

Sawyer Kenneth Fink, age 27, of West Union, passed away Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023. Sawyer was born Nov. 4, 1995, to Bruce and Donna (Ameling) Fink in La Crosse, Wis. He graduated from North Fayette Valley High School in 2014.

Sawyer was a UPS Driver and absolutely loved his job. He enjoyed interacting with all the people on his route and considered his co-workers as family. He loved life, being outdoors and was adventurous, he was very active biking, snowboarding, rock climbing, cooking and swimming in the river at Harpers Ferry. Sawyer even built a half-pipe in his front yard for skate boarding, that was a passion all through his life. Sawyer also loved rock hunting with his dad especially for agates while kayaking or hunting the rivers rock bars. Sawyer also enjoyed helping and participating with the TAKO events and with the mentoring program.

Highlights of Sawyers life were many, just to name a few; he lived in Winter Park, Colo., snowboarding and working the ski lifts, parachuting over the Grand Canyon with his mom and attending an honor flight with WWII veteran, Bob Traeger. He loved spending time at Echo Valley all through his life. Sawyers greatest joy was spending time with his friends and family, he absolutely loved everyone he met, greeting them with his contagious personality. He had a very kind heart and a wonderful smile.

Surviving Sawyer are his parents, Bruce and Donna Fink; his cats, Gatita, Navarro and dog, Aspen; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023 at the Fayette County Fair Grounds Pavilion in West Union.

Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in West Union, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
