Scott Alan Berger

Scott Alan Berger, 60, of Shorewood, Ill., and formerly of Waterloo and Denver, Iowa, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Scott was born Dec. 6, 1955 to Dallas and Patricia Berger. 

He graduated from Denver High School in 1974. As a young man he was an Eagle Scout and often told stories of his outdoor adventures with the scouts. He worked as cement nason and later an operator engineer in the Chicago area; retiring in 2011. Scott enjoyed spending time with family, especially with his two grandsons, playing golf, traveling, landscaping (he had a green thumb), and playing with his dog, Dino.

Beloved husband of Lois (Collins); loving father of Alex (Naoko) Berger of Schaumburg, Ill.; Alicia Berger (fiancé Andrew Ogg) of San Diego, Calif.; devoted son of Dallas Berger of Denver; dear brother of Susan Aegerter of Shorewood, Ill.; and Ted (Sonja) Berger of Morris, Ill.; adored papa of August and Max Berger of Schaumburg, Ill.; fun-loving brother-in-law of Arlene (Gregg) Humble of Cedar Falls; Cathy (Allan) Boeckenheuer and Jane (John) Frana of Calmar; uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia (Engel) Oct. 10, 2016; his grandparents, Walter and Dorothy (Simon) Engel and Louis and Myrtle( Schuler) Berger; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Madonna (Lansing) Collins.

Visitation is Saturday, Oct. 29, at 9 a.m., until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. at Sty. Francis de Sales Church, Ossian.
