Sharon Boland, age 77, of Decorah,died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021 at Barthell Eastern Star in Decorah.

will be from 4 to 7 p.m.. on Monday, Sept. 6, 2021 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue in Decorah. A graveside service will be held at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Stacey Nalean-Carlson presiding.

Sharon Kay Boland was on Oct. 30, 1943 the daughter of Leonard and Ruth (Hansmeier) Miller in Waukon. She attended Ludlow #7 school and graduated from Waukon High School in 1962. On Jan. 12, 1963, Sharon married James Boland at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon. To this union three children were born: Renee, Joan and Mark. When the kids were young the family moved to Cedar Rapids where Sharon babysat before becoming a cook for Prairie Schools. In 1975, they moved back to Decorah where she went to work for Camcar.  After 29 years she retired in 2005 due to health reasons.

Sharon enjoyed camping, crocheting, trips up north fishing, spending time with family and friends (especially her grand and great – grandchildren) which the last year has been hard because of the pandemic. She also loved watching birds and knew a lot by sight.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 58 years: Jim; children: Renee (Ray Johnson) Boland, Decorah, Joan (Steve) Burgart, Summerfield, Fla.; Mark (Linda) Boland, Calmar; grandchildren: Latasha (Wayne) Kovarik, Samantha (Brian) Swestka, Courtney (Curtis) Chapman, Jordan Boland and Coleton (Tina) Berg; step-granddaughters: Sierra (Shawn) Delance and Shanae Burgart; seven great-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren; sister: Rhonda (Kirby) Cahoon; brothers: Dennis (Karla) Miller and Clint (Frechie) Miller; along with numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Leonard and Ruth (Hansmeier) Miller; granddaughter: Amanda Berg; sister: Janice (Larry) Ramstad; brother: Charles Miller; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Fern (Eldo) Roffman; father-in-law: Vernon (Cole) Boland.
