Wayne Thomas, 77, of Decorah, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Per Wayne’s request, there will be no service. Inurnment is at Frankville Cemetery.
Wayne Lyle Thomas was born Feb. 11, 1938, in La Crosse, Wis., to Lyle and Evelyn (Pilgrim) Lenth. He was educated in the Decorah school system, and went on to serve in the U. S. Army from 1956 – 1958 as an Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. He was married to Sandra Peters May 30, 1965, and later divorced. To this union, one son was born, Mark Thomas. Wayne spent the majority of his banking career at Decorah Bank & Trust Company, retiring in 2000, after working there 37 years. He enjoyed his years of retirement by fishing and mushroom hunting.
He is survived by his son, Mark Thomas, of Lansing; two sisters, Jetty Larson of Decorah and Linda Houg of St. Olaf; as well as by nieces and nephews, and his many friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two brothers-in-law.
