Carole Sand – innovative, dedicated and thoughtful

By Richard Dovenberg

Carole Sand is an excellent candidate for the Decorah School Board. Carole and I were colleagues and teaching partners for 16 years at North Winneshiek Community School. She was innovative, dedicated, and thoughtful: an easy person to seek out for collaboration. On top of her regular teaching duties, Carole was the advisor/coach for collaborative activities including a middle school writing club, Student Council, Future Problem Solvers, Future City, and Math Counts.  Carole also organized all-school events such as reading competitions and pumpkin decorating.

Not only did she earn the respect of students and school personnel, she was well liked. Her thoughtfulness makes her a good person to ask for advice: a necessary component for all School Board members. Carole Sand’s qualifications are more than enough to make her an excellent addition to the School Board. There are three at large positions and in my view, Carole Sand should fill one of those positions.
