Reader feels local election choice is clear

By Bob Larson, Decorah

We already have three supervisors in our swamp who do not listen to their constituents. We do not need another.

Because of the current gang of three, we lost possibly the best county engineer in Iowa, abandoned our highly successful roadside management program and told residents of Freeport they don’t matter. These three often come to the meetings unprepared, with their minds already made up. Imagine the chaos and incompetence our county board would have with a four-member majority. They are already considered a joke throughout the rest of Iowa. We need to do better.

Instead of wandering around the shop getting in everyone’s way, trying to micromanage areas she has no clue about, Shirley on the other hand comes prepared to meetings and does her homework. If a topic she does not understand is presented at a board meeting, she will be up to speed with research and questions by the next meeting. She does not have a hidden agenda. In fact, when presented with facts contrary to her viewpoint, she has changed that viewpoint. She is flexible and willing to listen to all sides. She is not being influenced by any outside money. All she wants is to serve her constituents. Isn’t that why the supervisors are elected?

Shirley, there’s no other option.
