Some thoughts from former presidents

Dear Editor,
Most people want to put 2020 in the rearview mirror. I know I do. We need to be positive going forward into 2021. 
However, sometimes it is OK to look back and reflect on past events:
FDR: WPA help after the 1930’s troubles, etc. 
Quote: “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
JFK: The Peace Corps, 3/1/61. (I was in the Peace Corps 1964-66)
Quote: “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”
RR: A nice smile, loved horses and had an excellent sense of humor. Meeting with Mikhail Gorbachev and the Berlin Wall. 
Quote: After being shot he said to Nancy “I forgot to duck.” Also to the doctors; “I hope you are Republicans.” 
“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it along to our children in our bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States, where men were free.” President Ronald Reagan.
