A couple great meets for Viking swim team

By Becky Walz,

With the season well under way, the Decorah girls’ swim and dive team took to the water for an invite and dual recently with good results.

Third place
The Vikings collected 387 points Saturday at the Waterloo West Wahawk Invitational to claim third place.
“I am proud of how the team swam on Saturday. We placed third overall as a team, only 40 points out of winning the meet. We are making great progress, swimming lots of yards, hoping it all pays off once the championship season comes around,” said Coach Loran Storts.
Decorah won three golds for the day including Katerina Kovarik in the 200-yard individual medley. The senior made waves in the pool to touch the wall first in 2:29.73.
