Area ladies earn all-district honors

Numerous female athletes recently were named to their respective class all district teams for the northeast division.
Representing Class 1A is Ali Hoffert of Turkey Valley, while MFL MarMac’s Riley Moreland was named to the Class 2A Northeast District list. On the Class 3A list is Waukon duo of Annika Headington and Margaret Wacker, as well as Abby Reichter of North Fayette Valley. Decorah’s Bryar Duwe was honored on the Class 4A Northeast list.

Class 1A
Hoffert led the Upper Iowa Conference and the Trojans with 467 points, averaging 18.7 per game and was second in rebounding with 202 boards. The senior also led the UIC with a 79.5 free throw percentage. Hoffert led the Trojans in blocks as well with 23, while handing out 65 assists and grabbing 73 steals.

Class 2A
In Class 2A, Moreland posted 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per night for the MFL MarMac Bulldogs, good for third in the Upper Iowa Conference in both categories. She finished her junior campaign with 318 total points and 180 boards (68 offensive, 112 defensive) to go with a team-high 41 blocks. Moreland also had 46 steals and 40 assists.

Class 3A
A pair of Waukon athletes — Annika Headington and Margaret Wacker — were joined by North Fayette Valley’s Abby Reichter on the Class 3A Northeast District list.
Both Headington and Wacker were seniors on the Indian squad. Headington was second in the Northeast Iowa Conference with 352 total points, averaging 14.7 points a game. With 110 assists and 96 steals, the senior led the conference in both categories. Wacker posted a 12.3 point per game average, hitting 59.8 from the floor, along with a 61.1 percent free throw average. Wacker led the Indians with a total of 144 rebounds with 57 coming on the offensive end of the floor and 87 on the defensive end. She also had 16 blocks, 50 steals and 29 assists.
A member of the Upper Iowa Conference, NFV’s Reichter led the TigerHawks with 313 points, averaging 13.6 a contest, good for fifth in the UIC. The senior also led NFV in assists and steals with 74 and 68, respectively.

Class 4A
Averaging 15.5 points a contest, Decorah’s Bryar Duwe earned her second straight All-District recognition in Class 4A. Her 325 total points was good for third in the NEIC. She finished her sophomore season with a 42.1 field goal percentage. Duwe led the Vikings with 54 steals and 46 assists, while collecting 71 total rebounds (12 offensive, 59 defensive).
