Baseball postseason starts July 2

Decorah is in Class 3A Substate 3 and will host Benton in round one Friday, July 8, at 7 p.m. The substate semifinal will take place in Farley Monday, July 11, versus the winner of the Western Dubuque and Crestwood contest, with the substate final scheduled for Wednesday, July 13, in Farley. Teams on the other side of the bracket include Waverly-Shell Rock, South Tama, Clear Creek-Amana and Charles City.
South Winn and Turkey Valley are both in the Class 1A District 5 bracket and will play in Calmar Saturday, July 2.
The Trojans will take the field first versus Nashua-Plainfield at 5 p.m. The winner will face the winner of Saint Ansgar and Northwood-Kensett Tuesday, July 5, in Saint Ansgar, with the game beginning at 7 p.m. 
The Warriors will face Riceville to open the postseason at 7 p.m., in Calmar. The district semifinal is Tuesday, July 5, in Calmar at 7 p.m., against the winner of Rockford and North Butler. 
The district final in Saturday, July 9, at 7 p.m. in Saint Ansgar. The District 5 champion faces the District 6 winner Tuesday, July 12, in Decorah at 7 p.m.
The state baseball tournament runs July 18-22. Class 1A and 2A will be at Merchant Park in Carroll while Class 3A and 4A will compete at Duane Banks Field in Iowa City. The Class 1A and 3A quarterfinals are July 18, semifinals July 20 and championship game will take place July 22.
