Bowlers compete at conference

By Becky Walz,

The Decorah girls’ and boys’ bowling teams competed in the annual conference baker team tournament Wednesday. Teams in the conference include Columbus Catholic, Charles City, Denver, Forest City, North Fayette Valley, North Iowa, Oelwein, Sumner-Fred, Tripoli, Waukon and Waverly-Shell Rock.

The boys’ squad, which consisted of Brody Anfinson, Luke Iverson, Tyler Thompson, Karter Einck, Brendon Hunter and Emit Stemper, finished fourth overall.

Finishing seventh was the Viking girls with team member Rebecca Bruening, Lexi Hauber, Lilly Iverson, Paige Lange, Grace Gerleman and Annika Lensch.

“The other teams knew we showed up, however, we just didn’t quite get it done. I am awful proud of our kids as they represented Decorah with dignity and sportsmanship,” said Coach Keith Bruening.
