Things are clicking for the Decorah softball team (8-5, 5-2 NEIC) as the Vikes picked three wins, getting edged by Crestwood in the other.
Wednesday twinbill
The Vikes took two games from Waukon (6-8, 0-6 NEIC) on the road Wednesday, 21-1 and 11-0.
Decorah’s offense was the story of the night as the Vikes blasted 16 hits through five innings to get the early victory. Decorah scored four in the first and third frames, two in the fourth and plated 11 in the fifth.
Nearly everyone in the line-up had a hit in game one. The highlights include Fiona Buresh going 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI on the night. Ella Kittelson and Mya Numedahl each had extra-base hits, with Numedahl driving in three runs. Avery Shelton had a strong performance on the mound, going five innings, allowing four hits and striking out seven.
The nightcap also belonged to the Vikes with Decorah connecting for nine hits. Shelton and Isabel Ihde smacked out doubles, while Kittelson rapped out three singles. Emma Johnson was in the pitcher’s circle for the five innings, issuing two walks and striking out six.

In a pitcher’s duel, Crestwood (10-3, 5-1 NEIC) persevered for the 1-0 victory Thursday over Decorah. With both teams held scoreless through five frames, Crestwood plated the lone run in the game in the bottom of the sixth, then held on to hand the Vikes their second NEIC loss of the season.

Stepping out of NEIC
Decorah dominated the bats again Friday night as the Vikes traveled to Garnavillo to defeat Clayton Ridge (5-11) in three frames, 16-1.

This week
Monday, the Vikes hosted Oelwein and will again be at home Wednesday, June 16 versus New Hampton in a JV/varsity twinbill at 5:30 p.m. Decorah will end the week on the road Thursday, June 17, at Waverly-Shell Rock at 5:30 p.m.
