Chamberlain ends career at state

Senior Drew Chamberlain was the lone representative of the Decorah boys’ swim team at the state meet Friday and Saturday. Chamberlain wrapped up his high school career in the University of Iowa pool in Iowa City, scoring five points for the Vikes in his two events.

Waukee won the team title with 293.5 points.
Chamberlain dove into the water for prelim competition Friday, finishing 21st in the 200 free after entering the event as the 20th seed. AJ Abram won Saturday’s finals in 1:36.13.
Seeded 12th in the 100 backstroke, the Viking finished in that spot to earn a place in the finals with a time of 52.59 seconds in Friday’s prelims. In Saturday’s finals, Chamberlain improved his time slightly to 52.56 seconds, finishing 12th. In 48.85 seconds, Waukee’s Asher Havenhill won the event.
