Decorah boys remain undefeated in league play

The Decorah boys’ basketball team extended its streak to seven victories in a row Friday night, defeating Waverly-Shell Rock (7-3, 4-1) at home, 65-50.

The Decorah boys’ basketball team extended its streak to seven victories in a row Friday night, defeating Waverly-Shell Rock (7-3, 4-1) at home, 65-50.
“Our guys came out and played with great energy all night on both ends of the floor. We need to continue to improve with each game and keep building momentum,” said Coach Jonathan Carlson.
The Vikings are now 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the Northeast Iowa Conference, situating themselves all alone in first place.
Decorah led 17-12 after the first frame and padded its advantage to 32-20 at the halftime break. The Go-Hawks attempted to storm back in the second half to no avail.
Carson Wemark pounded down 14 points. Four other Vikings were in double figures including Ben Bockman with 12, Joe Bockman and Joe Hjelle with 11 each and Trey McCain with 10 points.
Decorah hosted MFL MarMac Monday, Jan. 10, and will travel to Charles City Friday, Jan. 14. The Vikings will finish the week off versus Center Point-Urbana Saturday, Jan. 15, at 3 p.m.
