Hitting the road, the Decorah girls’ soccer team (5-11) kept control of the ball throughout Thursday’s game at West Delaware (0-14) to win 9-0.
“Both halves of this game were played mostly in our offensive third of the pitch, with chance after chance at goal.  The game should really have ended early by the mercy rule, but we kept misfiring on shots that would have given us the 10-goal advantage,” noted Coach Loren Hendrickson.
With two goals each were Grace Neal, Ellen Rooney and Kylie O’Hara, while Amelia Wadsworth, Amelia Dugger and Mya Redenius put the ball in the net once each. Girls with one assist each were Madison Heim, Gabbi Dixon, Kylie O’Hara and Mya Redenius.
Monday, the Vikes were on the pitch at Denver in their final match of the regular season. Decorah opens the postseason at Marion Friday, May 20, at 5 p.m.
