Decorah girls, SW boys take invite titles

The South Winn track teams hosted the Warrior Invite Monday night.
The boys posted 268 points to take first, while the girls had 78 points to take third. The Decorah girls ran away with the girls’ title garnering 194 points. The Vikings sent their JV boys’ team to Calmar, taking fifth with 34. The Trojan girls collected an even 100 points in second. The Trojan boys were the runner-up with 92 points.

Highlights for SW
The SW boys’ ran away from the competition with 13 golds.
Sam Conway was the king of the sprints with the 100-meter dash (11.49) and 200-meter dash (23.77) titles. Isaiah Kruckman broke the tape in 1600-meter run in 5:00.96. Earning a pair of titles was Dominic Sisneros. The senior raced to victory in the 400-meter hurdles in 59.07 seconds and earned gold in the high jump, clearing 5’4”.
In other field events it was Ethan Timp coming away a double winner in the discus (124’7”) and shot put (42’1”), while Ethan Luzum had a leap of 17 feet 11 inches to top the long jump field.
The Warriors came away with five relay victories including the 4×100 (45.48), 4×200 (1:34.43), 4×400 (4:04.40), 4×800 (9:07.08) and shuttle hurdle (1:12.78).
For the girls, Emmaleigh Ohrt was the lone victor, sending the discus 111 feet 7 inches.

Viking gold
The Decorah girls had a successful night, claiming a total of eight titles. 
In the high jump it was Ashley Schneberger clearing a height of 4 feet 8 inches for gold. Chloe Reiser picked up the win in the shot put with a distance of 38 feet 7.25 inches.
Individually, Fiona Buresh broke the tape in the 100-meter dash in 13.26, while Lani Hubka was the champion of the 200-meter dash in 26.87. Kallie Mincks raced to the 100-meter hurdle finish line first, stopping the clock at 17.08 seconds.
The Lady Vikes were superior in three relays. The 4×100 combined for a time of 51.92 seconds, while the 4×400 won in 4:28.41. The shuttle hurdle relay was also victorious, winning in a time of 1:11.54.
The JV boys’ distance medley team was the lone gold performance of the night, crossing the finish line in 4:27.77.

Trojans’ best
Jalyssa Blazek continued her dominance in the 800-meter run crossing the finish line first in 2:28.25. The Turkey Valley girls added three other gold-medal performances to the night, winning the 4×800 (10:18.14), sprint medley (1:54.90) and distance medley (4:28.08).
The Trojan boys left Calmar Monday with a pair of victories. Junior Dylan Reicks won the boys’ 800-meter run in 2:20.61 and the sprint medley posted the best time of 1:40.05. 

Conference
The Warriors and Trojans will be at the Upper Iowa Conference meet today, Thursday, May 6, at North Fayette Valley, at 4 p.m.
Decorah will host the Northeast Iowa Conference meet at 5 p.m.
