Decorah girls tee off against stiff competition

After several meets with less than favorable weather, the Decorah girls’ golf team had the perfect competition conditions at Winona, Minn. Thursday for 18 holes. Friday, the Vikings were back in NEIC action at Cedar Ridge Golf Course in a triangular with Charles City and Waverly-Shell Rock.

Thursday night
When the last ball was put in the cup, it was Winona claiming victory 425 to 567 Thursday night in 18-hole competition. 
It was senior Jane Murphy who came through with Decorah’s best score of 133, while Brooke Norby fashioned a 138 on the par-72 course. Lexi Hauber toured the course with a 146 and Hope Stahl rounded out the scorecard with a 150.

Triangular
Friday was another 18-hole night in conference action with Waverly-Shell Rock and Charles City, with the Go-Hawks besting the field with 413. The Comets were second with 485, while the Vikings toured the course with a total of 535. 
Waverly-Shell Rock’s Brenna Bodensteiner was the medalist with a 91, while her teammate Ella Killion was the runner-up with a 99.
Firing a 130 to lead Decorah was Annika Lensch. Stahl fashioned a score of 132, while Jane Murphy added a 136 to the scorecard for the Vikes. Rounding out the team score with a 137 was Hauber. Norby was also on the course and finished with a 144.
