Decorah produces 47 points

By Becky Walz,

Opening up a new season Tuesday against Dike-New Hartford (1-0), the Decorah girls’ basketball team (0-1, 0-0 NEIC) couldn’t get the momentum in the second half, falling 72-47.
After nearly keeping pace with the Wolverines in the first half, the Vikes trailed 38-30 at the break; however, it was the third quarter that put Decorah in a big hole. Dike-New Hartford outscored the home team 21-7 to carry a 59-27 lead into the final period and eventually gave the visitors the victory.
Individual stats were unavailable at press time.
Decorah will host Wahlert Catholic Tuesday, Nov. 28, in a girls’ only night of action that starts at 6:15 p.m., then is off until Saturday, Dec. 2, when the Vikings host Center Point-Urbana at 1:30 p.m.
