The Viking grapplers went to battle with Crestwood Thursday in Cresco, falling to the Cadets 52-27, with five matmen earning wins.
D’mitry Lesser was the first to get Decorah some points at 120 pounds as he rolled Cale Knight to his back in 3:13. At 132 pounds it was Lane Rolfs earning a 4-2 decision over Ethan Govern, while Brady Stille took care of Bryce Shea on 16 seconds for the pin.
It took 1:36 for Austin Wilkins to put Trent Pisney’s shoulders to the mat at 160 pounds. Clinching the final points for the Vikings at 182 pounds was Corbyn Palmer. The junior threw Cody Kerian in 3:22.

Osage dual tourney
Friday’s snowfall didn’t hinder the competition at Osage Saturday as the Decorah wrestling team saw action against six other teams. After the final whistle had blown, Kasson-Mantorville (Minn.) was crowned the team champion. Host Osage claimed second. Decorah earned sixth.
Lane Rolfs went 4-1 during the day at 132 pounds. He first earned an 11-2 major decision over Mikey Kersten of Assumption, then threw Tyler LeFevre of Clear Lake in 3:15. In round three, Rolfs secured a 10-3 decision over Joe Talmadge of Ankeny Centenniel and pinned Sean Heilskov of Hampton-Dumont-CAL in 48 seconds.
Also having a successful day was 145-pound Brady Stille who was 3-2 with a fall over Clear Lake’s Carter Markwardt in 1:07 and Karter Janssen of Hampton-Dumont-CAL in 39 seconds. His final win of the day was a 6-2 decision over Osage’s Max Gast.
Corbyn Palmer was also 3-2 for the day at 182 pounds, throwing three opponents for the win. The junior pinned Kaleb Hambly of Clear Lake in 1:54, Sam Watson of Ankeny Centennial in 5:50 and Osage’s Blake Goehrig in 1:23.

Final week
Decorah will host a double dual with Riceville and Charles City Thursday, Jan. 20. The Vikings final regular-season competition will be at the Center Point-Urbana tournament Saturday, Jan. 22.
