There will be no shortage of Viking Blue and Red at the 2024 state track and field championships later this week after a combined 29 events qualified Thursday at the Class 3A state-qualifying meet in Clear Lake. In addition to the large contingent of athletes heading to Drake Stadium, the Vikings swept both divisions for the team titles. The boys topped the field with 179 points, while the girls claimed the title with 163.
“Our guys really were fearless and locked into the task at hand on Thursday night. What a night! The coaching staff is unbelievably proud of the efforts during both the NEIC championship and the district championship. It has really been special to celebrate with the girls team as well,” said Viking boys’ coach Joel Rollinger.
